WooThemes has taken the cake again releasing a new theme with new functionality found nowhere before. Diner, one of their latest themes allows restaurant owners to take needed functionality on their website by the reins and control creative, much needed elements in the easy to use WordPress interface. Diner is a premium WordPress theme from WooThemes.
When you get to the home page, you’re greeted with WooThemes iconic simple design. The look and feel is smooth, modern, almost understated. For some, this look will be perfect, for others, it won’t work at all. But, it’s not the look that draws you to this theme, it’s the infrastructure built in. Here are some of the really cool features WooThemes has built right into this theme:
- Dynamic home page – you can customize the layout with all sorts of varying items of interest, including a content slider, a location map, reservations calendar (more on that in a bit), locations map (integrated Google map), specials section, from the blog section, and more.
- Menu – using this new theme, you can completely manage all your menu items right on the site. Using Custom Post Types, WooThemes has kept it creative in the way you can put in new menu items. You can put in all your menu items, and they’ll be listed on your site on the front-end in a table format. You can upload a thumbnail image and set the price and on the front-end, users can rate the dish.
- Reservations – users can make reservations and come back to view or cancel their reservations in the future. In the back-end, you can see the reservations made so you can honor them for your customers. You can set the hours of operation, how many tables you have, how many are seated at each and interval of time between table reservations. This is really cool.
All-in-all, this theme offers flexibility never before found in WordPress when it comes to using it as a restaurant website platform.

Elegant Themes has grown over the last year or so to be one of my favorite premium WordPress theme developer. Nick Roach, the developer, has done an outstanding job of creating smooth and clean looking themes that cleverly incorporate a high-quality back end control panel.
This real estate premium WordPress theme that he has released is no exception. The creative detail is smooth and clearly very well thought out. The presentation of the listings is clear and getting everything set up on the back end is a snap. My only disappointment is that he isn’t using the newly released feature in WordPress 3.0, custom post types, to make the organization cleaner, like WooThemes. But, with that said, this theme can be had for much less too.
Let’s take a look.

Without explanation of my 6 month hiatus, I’m gonna dive right in and let you dream of the exotic trips my affiliate fortune has afforded me. Heh.
This new real estate theme from WooThemes is quite a twist from what they’ve done in the past. Known for their simple elegance, overwhelming functionality and comprehensive control panel, WooThemes has really outdone themselves this time. Of course, coming from a real estate background, there has been some essential things overlooked, but their clever use of the newly released WordPress 3.0 feature, custom post types, is clever to say the least. And of course, if you’re a developer, take a look at the search functionality in the back end. This wasn’t an easy thing for them to formulate, and it works quite well. It goes without saying, that so far, the real estate application is one of the coolest implications of using custom post types.
WooThemes is known for their simple and smooth designs, so if you are wanting something a little more flamboyant for your real estate company, you’ll have to dive into some customizations on this. But, as far as the functionality, this these is a gem. It all seems to work smoothly. So, enough chatter, here is what it looks like.

- Multiple layouts
- Advanced search functionality
- Ability to handle rental and for sale properties
- Featured property content rotator on home page
- WordPress 3.0 compatible (obviously)
